The Guadalajara Film Festival (FICG) seeks to promote and spread the film production in Latin America through a rendezvous and collaboration of their industries, formation of new talents and distribution of films in the region so that they can access a wider audience. ICG is a cultural event organised by the Board of the Guadalajara Internatio-nal Film Festival A.C., the University of Guadalajara (UdeG) the Mexican Institute ofCinematography (IMCINE), the Government of Jalisco, and Municipalities of Gua-dalajara, Zapopan, and Tlaquepaque, amongst other partners.
FICG CALL FOR ENTRIES
The Guadalajara Film Festival (FICG) calls for producers and filmmakers from Mexico, Ibero-America, and other regions of the world to submit their films to the new edition of the festival.
OFFICIAL COMPETITION
For the official sections in the competition, films finalised in the two years precedeng the start of the new festival edition will only be considered.
COMPETITIVE SECTIONS:
Mezcal Award
Mexican fiction and documentary feature films that have their Mexican Premiere during FICG will be considered for the call for entries.The minimum length to participate is 60 minutes, credit roll included. The awards are•Mezcal Award to the best Mexican film: Mayahuel Award and 500,000 Mexican pesos, granted to the majoritarian producing company.• Audience Award: Mayahuel Award and 100,000 Mexican pesos, granted to the di-rector.• Best Direction: Mayahuel Award. • Best Cinematography: Mayahuel Award. • Best Actress: Mayahuel Award.• Best Actor: Mayahuel Award.
Ibero-American Fiction Feature Film
Ibero-American fiction feature films that have their Mexican Premiere during FICG will be considered for the call for entries.The minimum length to participate is 60 minutes, credit roll included. The awards are:• Best Ibero-American Fiction Feature film: Mayahuel Award and 500,000 Mexican pesos, granted to the majoritarian producing company.• Best First Film: Mayahuel Award.• Best Direction: Mayahuel Award. • Best Screenplay: Mayahuel Award.• Best Cinematography: Mayahuel Award. • Best Actress: Mayahuel Award.• Best Actor: Mayahuel Award.
Ibero-American Documentary Feature Film
Ibero-American documentary feature films that have their Mexican Premiere during FICG will be considered for the call for entries.The minimum length to participate is 60 minutes, credit roll included. The awards are:• Best Ibero-American Fiction Feature film: Mayahuel Award and 200,000 Mexican pesos, granted to the majoritarian producing company.• Best Direction: Mayahuel Award.• Best Cinematography: Mayahuel Award.
Ibero-American Short Film
Ibero-American short films that have their Mexican Premiere during FICG will be consi-dered for the call for entries.The maximum length to participate is 30 minutes, credit roll included. The awards are:• Best Ibero-American short film: Mayahuel Award and 75,000 Mexican pesos, gran-ted to the director.
Maguey Award
International fiction and documentary feature films addressing Queer issues related to the LGBTQ+ comunity that have their Mexican Premiere during FICG will be considered for the call for entries.The minimum length to participate is 60 minutes, credit roll included. Films from the Mezcal Award, Ibero-American Fiction Feature Film, Ibero-American Docu-mentary Feature Film, and International Animation feature film can be considered for this section.The award is:• Best Maguey Film: Maguey “EMME” Award.
International Animation Feature Film
International Animation feature films that have their Mexican Premiere during FICG will be considered for the call for entries.The minimum length to participate is 60 minutes, credit roll included. The award is:• Best Animation Feature Film: Mayahuel Award and 500,000 Mexican pesos, gran-ted to the majoritarian producing company.
Rigo Mora International Animation Short Film
International animation short films that have their Mexican Premiere during FICG will be considered for the call for entries.The maximum length to participate is 30 minutes, credit roll included. The award is:• Best Animated Short Film: Rigo Mora Award and 200,000 Mexican pesos, granted to the director.
Made in Jalisco
Mexican fiction and documentary feature films made in Jalisco that have their Mexican Premiere during FICG will be considered for the call for entries.The minimum length to participate is 60 minutes, credit roll included. The award is:• Best Film Made in Jalisco: Mayahuel Award.
The selected films for the official competition must cover expenses for KDM, shipping, and subtitling.
Guadalajara Film Market
Industry Programs are FICG projects aimed to assist different sectors of the Iberoamerican film industry. They are platforms for diverse groups based on their level of development or specific themes.
This space is the ideal opportunity to create networks, build relationships and do business with the most important film professionals in Latin America.
The market is located in the heart of the Festival, right in the entrance of our house: the Cineteca FICG, in the lobby of the Conjunto Santander de Artes Escénicas.
Here’s where the official selection is screened, as well parallel sections. In addition to having access to all industry activities; Guadalajara Construye, Co-production Meetings, Doculab, Talents Guadalajara, Episode 0: Series in Development, exclusive conferences for the film professionals, and Master Classes with the great ones of the cinema.

Talents Guadalajara
Talents Guadalajara is an intensive summit for filmmakers from Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, that have standed out for their originality, talent and vision of the future, always standing in their today. Reflecting on their reality and innovating towards tomorrow.
Doculab: Laboratory of Documentaries
Program that aims to promote documentary filmmakers and their projects that are in an advanced stage of editing, and require an analytical advice or support for the finalization processes of post production or distribution.
Episode 0: Series in development
We call for Ibero-american series in development, to bring them closer to potential collaborators that may help take the selected projects to their next stage of production.
Parallel Sections
In addition to the official competition, the programme of FICG is formed by diverse parallel sections addressing particular themes and approaches:
• Guest of Honour: A showcase from the best of the production made in recent years within the country or region invited to FICG.
• International Panorama: The best of world cinema through the year and films awarded at international film festivals.
• Galas: selection of international films for charitable screenings.
• Son de Cine / In-Edit: music related fictions and documentary films, curated in collaboration with In-Edit Barcelona.
• Film 4 Climate: films about the environment and society.
• Culinary Cinema: Fiction and documentary films focusing in the world of food.
Films submitted for the official competition may be invited to participate in any of the parallel sections.
