27th Edition

The first edition of Linea d’Ombra, called SalernoFilmFestival, was held in Salerno from January 25 – 28, 1996.

Linea d’Ombra Festival is an international film and audiovisual festival conceived and promoted by the SalernoInFestival Association, supported by the Municipality of Salerno, with the contribution of public and/or private entities, associations, foundations and sponsors. The Festival adheres to AFIC (Association of Italian Film Festivals) and to CFCC (Coordination of the Campania Region Film Festivals).

The twenty-seven edition takes place in Salerno from 22 to 29 October 2022.

Linea d’Ombra Festival is an event that aims to raise awareness and to promote the best international cinematographic and audiovisual productions, to relate the different forms of youth creativity and to promote their knowledge among the public, to develop projects that have an effective educational impact and productivity, to encourage the realization of collective works of young artists coming from different experiences, finally to enhance the cultural potential of the Campania Region on a national and international level.

Arrived at XXVII edition, Linea d’Ombra Festival continues its journey in the contemporary, riproposing and researching works of the creativity of our time, through cinema and audiovisual arts.

Our Linea d’Ombra

The name of the festival has been taken from Joseph Conrad’s novel, but still today the Shadow Line to which we refer is the typical condition of our present day. It is a non-stop change from one world to another, from one epoch to another, without time for nostalgia. Maybe.

Linea d’Ombra officially announces the following Competition Sections:

  • Passaggi d’ Europa

Feature films in digital format produced in Europe in the two-year period 2020/2021 are admitted to the competition. The number of works admitted to the section in competition will be defined by the artistic direction and may vary according to the needs of planning and design coherence, in any case not less than five. 

  • LineaDoc

Documentaries produced all over the world in the two-year period 2021/22 are admitted to the competition. The works, lasting more than or less than 52 minutes, will be presented in the original format, or in one agreed with the producer or author, with subtitles in Italian.
The number of works admitted to the section in competition will be defined by the artistic direction and may vary according to the needs of planning and design coherence.

  • CortoEuropa

Short films in digital format with a maximum duration of 20 minutes, produced in Europe in the two-year period 2021/2022, are admitted to the competition. The number of works admitted to the section in competition will be defined by the artistic direction and may vary according to the needs of planning and project coherence.

  • VedoAnimato

Short films made with various animation techniques in digital format with a maximum duration of 20 minutes, produced all over the world in the two-year period 2021/2022, are admitted to the competition.
The number of works admitted to the section in competition will be defined by the artistic direction and may vary according to the needs of planning and design coherence.

  • VedoVerticale

Short films of any genre with a maximum duration of 5 minutes (credits included), conceived and made in 9:16 format (1080×1920) with any digital device between 2020 and 2022, are admitted to the competition.

The list of selected films will be published within 10 September 2022.

To participate you need to read the rules and send all required materials no later than 1st September 2022.

The films in competition will be judged by the LdOSocial jury and the festival’s expert jury. The jury of experts will assign the following Awards and Prizes:

“Linea d’Ombra FestivalPassaggi d’Europa 2022″ Award to the winning film and a cash sum of  3,000.00 (threethousandeuros/00);  

Linea d’Ombra Festival – LineaDoc 2022” Award to the winning film and a cash sum of € 1,000.00 (one thousand euros).

Linea d’Ombra FestivalCorto Europa 2022 Trophyto the winning film and a cash sum of 2,000.00(twothousandeuros/00);

Linea d’Ombra Festival – VedoAnimato 2022 “Award to the winning film and a cash sum of €1,000.00(onethousandeuros/00);

“Linea d’Ombra Festival – VedoVerticale 2022” Award and a cash sum of €500.00 (five hundred/ 00 euros). 

The LdOsocial jury will assign the “Linea d’Ombra Festival Award – Special Jury Prize 2022” to the winning film.
The artistic direction reserves the right to give special mentions to those films that have shown particular technical and creative qualities.
