The Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF)<\/strong> was founded in 2011. Following the principle of \u201cShare the Screen, Shape the Future\u201d, the BJIFF has succeeded with a premium start in leapfrog development, international presence and all-round upgrading over the past decade, and established its unique\"\" position and style of Master, Mass and Market. As a major platform for international exchanges, the barometer of the film market, incubator of rising stars and works, and Beijing\u2019s cultural brand, the BJIFF has become Beijing\u2019s most influential annual cultural festival around the globe, and played an irreplaceable role in the development of China\u2019s film industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

With unremitting efforts and continuous accumulation, the BJIFF is growing fast every year in terms of celebrity guests, rating of works in competition and screening, successful incubation of pitching projects, wide range of trading factors at the Beijing Film Market, and depth of film forums and industry conversations. A total of approximately 5,000 entries from more than 90 countries and regions have been submitted to the Tiantan Award for competition, and about 50 globally renowned filmmakers from China and around the world have served as jury members of the award. Many quality works, such as the My Beloved Bodyguard, The Seventy-seven Days, Till the End of the World and Summer Detective, are produced via the project pitches platform of the Beijing Film Market. Moreover, the Beijing Film Market has had over 130 billion yuan worth of projects signed that cover the whole value chain, making it one of the biggest film markets in Asia. The Beijing Film Panorama has organized more than 7,300 events that screened approximately 3,000 highly artistic and engaging films, making it annual cultural hit in Beijing.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\u259e Tiantan Award Competition Section<\/b><\/span>
\nThe \u201cTiantan Award\u201d competition section is the feature film competition section at the Beijing International Film Festival, and there are 10 awards, including the Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Music and Best Visual Effects. The results of the awards will be announced at the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 11th Beijing International Film Festival, and certificates and trophies will be presented to the winners.<\/span>

\nThey should be feature films produced after January 1, 2022;<\/span>
\nThe film duration should not be less than 70 minutes;

\u259e Beijing Film Panorama<\/b>
\nThe “Beijing Film Panorama” section will set up the Special Exhibition, Surprise Premiere, Tribute to Masters, Focus Filmmakers, Restoration of Classics, Chinese Stories, Documentary Units and other thematic film exhibitions for different films, which will be shown to the public and industry insiders in cooperative cinemas and film academic institutions during the festival; an “Audience-selected honor” selection activity will be hold to appraise the “BIJF audience-selected film” from 8 to 10 selected films, and honorary certificates will be awarded to the winners.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2598Films to be registered shall meet the following conditions<\/span><\/b>
\nThe duration of feature films, animated films and documentary films shall not be less than 70 minutes, 60 minutes and 60 minutes respectively; <\/span>All films should be produced after January 1, 2020 except for some of those for special exhibition sections;\u00a0The photographic films shall be in 35mm format, and digital films in DCP format.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u259e\u00a0Forward Future Section<\/b>
\nThe Forward Future section aims at encouraging the spirit of film innovation, stimulating the creative vitality of the film art, discovering and introducing new film talents, and enhancing the cooperation and exchanges among young filmmakers of various countries, and sets up an honor selection program to appraise the “Most Notable Film”, “Most Notable Director”, “Most Notable Screenwriter”, “Most Notable Actress”, “Most Notable Actor” and “Most Notable Artistic Contributor\u201d from 15- 18 selected films. Films to be selected shall be directors’ first or the second feature films, regardless of genre or nationality.
\nThe Organizing Committee of the Beijing International Film Festival has invited domestic and foreign heavyweight filmmakers to form an international jury of the “Forward Future” section. The jury cannot involve in the production or commercial development of the competing films. The appraisal results will be announced at the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 11th Beijing International Film Festival, and honor certificates will be presented to the winners.
